Improving parenting skills for families referred by DCS
The BFCS Parent Aide Program provides contracted services to families referred by the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) who are seeking reunification with their children who have been placed in foster care.
Parents are provided services that will help them improve their parenting skills and gain the ability to provide their children with a safe, stable and secure home environment.
Parent Aides work with parents to set realistic goals, monitor and review their progress in achieving needed behavioral changes, and provide reports and recommendations to DCS that assist in decisions about reunification.
Services provided include:
Parenting Education – weekly individual training sessions on:
Parenting Skills – including topics such as nurturing, child development, appropriate discipline, and communication
Coping Skills – personal problem solving, stress management
Life Skills Training – including home management, budgeting, nutrition
Maintaining a safe and stable home environment
Supervised Parent – Child Visitation
Maintain family relationships by arranging and supervising parent-child visits
Provide for transportation for children’s’ visits
Assist families in accessing needed community resources
