Service planning – selecting treatment goals and planning an intervention – and decision making is done within the context of a Child and Family Team consisting of family members and other supporters, professionals and non-professionals who are involved in the child's life and are concerned with the child’s well being.

The Child and Family Team provides continuous support and guidance in the delivery of services during the implementation of the service plan.

Services available through the Child and Family Counseling program include:

  • Assessment and diagnosis
  • Individual, family and group counseling
  • Parent education and support
  • In-home coaching
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
  • Psychological consultation

  • Service coordination with schools, and other child serving agencies and organizations

Our professional, culturally competent staff has a broad range of educational backgrounds and professional experiences in helping children and families resolve family conflicts, enhance family functioning, and manage crises and challenges to help children to perform successfully in school and become productive adults.

Adult Outpatient Counseling
The BFCS Adult Outpatient Counseling Program

BFCS Adult Outpatient Counseling services are available for individuals over 18 years of age, couples and families dealing with unexpected challenges, or traumatic events, coping with personal and interpersonal conflicts, addressing ongoing emotional problems or self-defeating behavior that interfere with the ability to carry out life’s major activities.

The community-based program is founded on coordination of care that emphasizes client engagement, grief counseling, regular monitoring and review of progress while providing referrals to community resources and support services.

Following an initial assessment and diagnosis, client and counselors working in partnership, identify problem situations and select those interventions which will help the client achieve a stable, productive and satisfying life within their family and community.

Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual, couple, family or group counseling
  • Psychiatric referral for evaluation and medication monitoring
  • Overcoming anxiety and depression
  • Essential coping skills
